Don’t have food allergies, but having some other internal issues?

If you don’t have food allergies but you are having some intestinal issues, The Whole 30 program may be something you would benefit from. Columbia Allergy and Asthma Specialist office manager, Tammy Backman, has decided to try this program for herself and with willing patients.

The Whole 30 is a 30 day food elimination diet that helps reset your body’s immune system back to neutral. The program not only helps with resetting the body, it also restores metabolism, stops unhealthy cravings, restores your digestive tract and helps balance the immune system. Specific food groups such as sugar, legumes, grains, alcohol and dairy are common problem foods for many individuals. The Whole 30 eliminates these food groups all together  for 30 days, allowing the body to “reset”. By eliminating these foods from the diet and resetting the body, when you introduce these foods back into your system, you will be acutely aware of which foods are causing your issues.

Some of the problems that people have seen improvement with as a result of The Whole 30 consist of:

high blood pressure • high cholesterol • type 1 diabetes • type 2 diabetes • asthma • allergies • sinus infections • hives • skin conditions • endometriosis • PCOS • infertility • migraines • depression • bipolar disorder • heartburn • GERD • arthritis • joint pain • ADD • thyroid dysfunction • Lyme disease • fibromyalgia • chronic fatigue • lupus • leaky gut syndrome • Crohn’s • IBS • Celiac disease • diverticulitis • ulcerative colitis

This process of elimination can be difficult for some but, Tammy will be in contact with her patients to keep up with the progress that everyone is making. Tammy will be starting The Whole 30 with her first group on February 29th, 2016.
